Openphonic Hat

Openphonic Hat could, actually, be a kind of hat. And if you were to put it on, you might hear more — and wider. Differently. Those free improvisations on two guitars, sounding like they could describe reality almost too well — its colors, moods, rhythm… It means blues, with its pulse, storytelliin, call and responce. And on top of that imagine a touch of sonorism, microtonal variations on prepared instruments. And melodies. Most of all melodies.

And us: Patryk Zakrocki and Marcin Olak.

That’s how it goes:

Or maybe like that:

Those were recorded at Project Gallery in Warsaw on December 12, 2025, with the support of the Monaural Poetry label. We used a single stereo microphone (Neumann USM 69) and recorded onto a NAGRA IV-S tape recorder. The video was captured by Michał Malota. Everything was recorded live, with no editing or overdubs, of course.

Gadt. Olak. La Boheme.

Come to the show! Some free improv stuff, beyond jazz. Anna Gadt & Marcin Olak. At one of the coolest underground Warsaw spots. And Anna is one of the best singers and improvisers in town, u better check it! Damn!

Marcin Olak Trio – guess who’s back!

I know, we’ve had a long break. I mean long, Crossing Borders was out in 2012 – damn, 12 years? Well, I needed it. Anyway, now I ready to play that jazz thing again, some new songs, new attitude.

We played some new tunes in Chrzęsne, really cool place for music. With Maciek Szczyciński on bass and Michał Bryndal on drums.

On the YT you can see our full set. And the interview with me – sorry, it’s in Polish. But it’s kind of funny, and automatic translation can make it even more funny, I thinkAnd here are some pics, courtesy of Chrzęsne Palace, hope U enjoy.

Guitar Summit @ Ad Libitum

It’s happening. I’ll play at the Ad Libitum festival, during Guitar Summit, at Warsaw’s Pardon To Tu. I was invited together with great guitarists & improvisers: Paweł Doskocz, Hubert Kostkiewicz, Michał Dymny, Łukasz Marciniak. Looks like party!

More information TBA, stay tuned.

Broken Songs @ La Boheme

Think I’ll do it again. Gonna sing my bloody songs. With a little help from my friends, Mikołaj Miki Wielecki on percussions and Andrzej Kupniewski playing prepared harmonicas. Will you come?

Marcin Olak. M. Broken Songs Live.

Spontaneous Chamber Music!

We’re back. That’s what we sounded like at PanDymińska (WAW, PL), what do you think? (I know, we look like cartoon characters. Probably rejects from a colouring book. IDGaF, just listen to the music, will ya?)
